Counsellor Trustee

What are we looking for?

To be successful you will have had considerable experience of working in a counselling setting, as a counsellor and ideally a counselling manager. This should include experience of clinical supervision and safeguarding. Strong communication skills are required to engage with a wide range of people verbally and in writing. Experience of being a Trustee of a charity would be an advantage.

Events Organisation Project

We are looking for someone to: 

  • List our physical display equipment
  • Catalogue our numerous information leaflets
  • Recommend display stands for information leaflets
  • Catalogue the ‘freebies’ that we take to events

Basildon Mind attends a small number (3-6) of external events each year. We have physical equipment including a gazebo, display table and pull-up banners. We also have a number of information leaflets, which we take to events. Finally we have ‘freebies’ with our logo on, which we give out at events.

Work Hours, Start Date and Duration of Position: 1.5-2 hours per week for 10-12 weeks

Charity Shop

We are always looking for volunteers to work in our Charity Shop, plus we have an eBay volunteer role. Both roles are based in our shop at 37 East Walk, Basildon Town Centre.

Allotment

Counselling

We urgently need Volunteers to help run our Counselling Services, we are looking for Helpline and Receptionist Volunteers.

Helpline Volunteer

HOURS: 4 hours per week – Monday to Thursday 10:00 to 20:00; Friday 10:00 to 16:00; Saturday 10:00-14:00
BASED AT: Counselling Office, Whitmore Way, SS14 2EZ 
GENERAL DUTIES: Answering phone calls and carrying out counselling administration (managing appointments, diary, safely welcoming clients in a secure environment, etc). Helpline calls range from straight forward enquiries to serious mental health issues. In this respect, phone calls could be intense, challenging and require managing for up to 30 minutes.


SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Good interpersonal skills and non-judgemental attitude towards people with lived experience of mental ill health.
Ability to communicate effectively. Good organisational, Admin and IT skills. Strong team working ethos.
Experience in working in a similar phone support-based role. Counselling training, health or social care background.
A Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check may be required.

Community Hub

We are seeking passionate and enthusiastic Billericay Representatives to join our team.  The Billericay Community Hub is the first point of call for accessing our counselling service.

This role supports clients by ‘providing a listening ear’ helping clients to look at options to either arrange access to our various counselling services or to signpost clients to other services.

Key aspects of the role are talking to members of the public who drop into the Billericay Community Hub. Enquiries can range from straight forward enquiries to serious mental health issues. In this respect, discussions could be intense, challenging and require managing for up to thirty minutes. 

Hours:  3 hours per week, on a role share basis. Shifts are Wednesday between 2.00pm - 5.00pm

Location: Billericay Community Hub, 10 High Street, Billericay
